Ross Champion got 2008 world champions title

Itajaí (Santa Catarina/Brazil) - Two days competition waiting for sun and highest waves didn’t destroy the athlete’s humor. They were recompensed by a beautiful sunshine and great waves at Sunday afternoon for the IFWA Championship Challenge ultimate fighting of 2008 season. The crowd at the Brava beach in Itajai, south Brazil, has been delighted by watching French pilot Pierre Maixent and his amazing tricks. Maixent defeated Italian Frederico Bufacchi at the final hit and won the world contest doing several “back flip superman” and “double barrel roll”. Audience clap hands before French freerider and aerial maneuvers that settled the competition. "I’m very pleased with my performance here. I’ve loved to be in Itajai. Very kind public and everything has worked out very well for me”, said Pierre.

Third standing was to American’s Ross Champion, Romain Stampers (FRA), Graham Reid (UK), Arkadius Schramek (GER), Alexander Lenzi (BRA) e Brett Armstrong (SA) at the course. Pierre Maixent had have the victory of Jet Waves Championship third stage of the season already, which took place earlier at the same beach. Ross Champions world title favorite felt down before the Italian’s Frederico Bufacchi at the semifinals hits fighting. Bufacchi helped whip Brava beach crowd into frenzy during an afternoon of spectacular tricks and waves surfing. “I did my best to create the perfect aerial”, said the Italian. Brazilian Alexander Lenzi was defeated by Bufacchi at eliminatory hits and he has been eliminated of the championship.

Even heading two victories right away Pierre Maixent didn’t get 2008 freeride world champion title, which was claimed by Ross Champion who came at the end of the season with a total of 77 points. Bufacchi comes in second (72) followed by Pierre Maixent (70) and Romain Stampers (62).
