Um incrível swell chegara a Pismo Beach
no fim de semana para a ultima etapa do mundial de jet ski em
ondas, o IFWA World Championship 2007. Estão previstas
ondas de até 3 metros, os 40 pilotos inscritos para o
evento estão com grandes expectativas para as boas condições
do mar para o evento.
Matematicamente 3 pilotos tem chance de se sagrar campeão
esse ano na categoria Stand-up, os franceses Pierre Maixent,
atual líder do campeonato e 2 vezes campeão mundial,
o atual vice-lider, Gil Beurnier, e competindo em casa o freerider
americano Ross Champion. O freeride brasileiro Ivo Sehn
não tem mais chances de vencer o mundial, mas compete
mas ainda pode ser sagrar vice-campeão como em 2005,
dependendo de um bom resultado e de uma combinação
de outros atletas.
Outro Brasileiro no evento, o catarinense André Martins
também está empolgado com a etapa, e as boas condições
de ondas previstas, pois o mesmo gosta de mar grande!
Já na Sit down, o titulo mais uma vez pertence ao Sul-africano
Jimmy Visser, que com mais esse passa a ter 9 titulos mundial
nessa categoria. Jimbo como é conhecido, já anunciou
para o ano que vem que mudará de categoria, e disputará
na stand-up, prometendo revolucionar o esporte com novas manobras.

SWELL:
Strom activity which has been portrayed by
the weather models as being very intense and down into the mid
latitudes is now being shown not as strong and further to the
north. The swells therefore will be trimmed down appreciably
from what was being predicted last week. This morning's 3 to
4 foot (270°) westerly swell (with a 9-13 second period)
will decrease to 2 to 3 feet (with a 9-12 second period) by
tonight and will continue at this height and period through
Tuesday morning. A 4 to 5 foot west-northwesterly (275°)
swell (with a 9-12 second period) will arrive along our coastline
on Tuesday afternoon and will increase to 4 to 6 feet (with
an 11-14 second period) on Wednesday morning through Thursday
morning. A 7 to 9 foot northwesterly (280°) sea/swell (with
a 7-15 second period) will develop along our coastline on Thursday
afternoon and night, decreasing to 6 to 8 feet (with a 7-13
second period) on Friday.
SEAWATER TEMPERATURE:
Intake seawater temperatures will range between 55° and
58° through Thursday, decreasing on Friday through next
Monday.
SEAWATER VISIBILITY:
Seawater visibility was not available this morning.
OUTLOOK for WINDS:
DIR. NW SPEED 5-10 Tuesday morning
Increasing to: DIR. NW SPEED 15-20 Tuesday afternoon
Decreasing to: DIR. NW SPEED 10-15 Tuesday night
EXTENDED OCEAN CONDITION OUTLOOK:
Increasing northwesterly winds and sea/swell on late Thursday
night through Sunday.
