Dear Friends of JK,
Joe had his Crainioplasty August 6, no complications. The procedure
allowed him to lose the helmet, which makes life easier for
everyone. Joe is blind and likely will not
regain vision, we just do not know for sure. He has been to
two Neuro-ophthalmologists. Currently there are no treatment
options for cortical blindness. Do not discuss "snake oil
treatments" with him as false hope is extremely damaging.
The blindness complicates the brain injury rehab, so it has
been quite challenging, for Joe. Refrain from emailing Joe until
further notice.
I would like to thank everyone who donated to the website fundraiser,
and benefit rides. $6800.00 was raised. The money was spent
on outpatient rehab at Scripps Encintas over a three week stay.
Cost $500.00/day. The most productive three weeks thus far.
I will be re-enrolling him eventually. Money raised in the future
will be placed in a "Special Needs Trust", safe from
creditors and the state.
A special thanks to the Blowsion Crew for all they have done
and continue to do. Joe and I had a great time at the beach
party.
Do not know if Joe will be attending Havasu this year, please
don't ask him.
The civil case is underway, cannot discuss.
I will try and give an update end of each month, or as any significant
changes occur.
