> Xan in the quarts of final
04/25/2007
On April 21 and 22, in the second
round of Free Ride World Championship, that happened in Zarauzt
/ Spain, the Brazilian pilot Alexandre Sampaio, Xan, got a classification
to the quarts of final.
The pilot Alexandre Sampaio, Xan,
told to the Free Ride Sport Team how was her participation in
the second round of the Free Ride World Championship, that happened
on April 21 and 22, in Zarautz/Spain.
"The round that happened in Spain was good
and the results were more positives. I changed some strategies,
worked with my psychologist and tried to control myself before
and after the test.
The weekend was sunny, but the cold water was
a difficult that I found. Because of this, I did allonge and
prevent muscles injuries and another problems.
Sunny Saturday, pilots worried about the sea
conditions, ''small waves'', and a big public to watch the second
round of Free Ride World Championship here in Spain. In the
classificatories I had to face one of my colleagues, the Brazilian
Bruno Jacob. This time the classification system was not the
punctuation, but Head to Head. Who loose would be out!
Our battery was the last of the day, the tide
was high, close to the public, but the waves were small, what
made it difficult the performance. The good part is that me
and Bruno already competed in the Freestyle (performances on
calm waters, like lakes), that means, both had good chances
to make perfect performances on the small waves of Zarautz.
I have known about Bruno's potential and I could
not fail. I did what I could to be in front, passed by some
tenses moments, but I obtained the winner in this battery. I
preferred face other pilot that was not him, but if had to be
like this, was everything or nothing.
I can not deny that Bruno was one of the most
difficult adversaries in the round, less inexperienced in this
kind of competition, he knew marked me very well and also execute
the performances with perfection.
The most important was that the public was delirious
with the Brazilians dispute and in the final both obtained the
classification. I by the victory and Bruno by white letter.
After Bruno, I had to face the French Gil Beurnier, one of the
best Free Ride pilots of the world.
I was calm and confident that I would make a
good presentation. After 8 minutes I won the French and went
up to the quarts of final. In the sequence I had to face Pierre
Maixent, the actual world Bi-champion in the category and also
a friend.
Like the battery of my Brazilian colleague,
this was incited too, was Tuno in one side, Tuno in the other
side, both almost together, but Pierre did three back flips
in waves that did not have conditions to this.
I will try to improve with this defeat, and
maybe obtain a motivation to the next round in France.
Today is Tuesday, April 24, and I am with the
Fullgaz.com team here in France. Me and other pilots, Pierre
Maixent, Henri Charlet and Ross Champion will be filming a clip
to Fullgaz this Wednesday in Biscarousse, north of France. Beyond
the Free Ride we will make a session of wakeboard and airchair.
This Friday I will be in France, with this people
to train, see the sea conditions and prepare myself to one more
challenge.
Until now, is this! Force Brazil!
Hugs, Xan"
