Joe saw a team of Neuro-Opthamologist at UCSF
yesterday. His right eye will remain blind, the optic nerve
is white, which reflects the lack of blood flow, irreparable
damage. His left eye has very limited vision, which may improve.
We have another Neuro-Opthamologist appointment at Scripps in
La Jolla on Wednesday. There is no treatment for Cortical Blindness
but I will explore Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment and Nova Vision.
We see his Neuro-surgeon on Thursday, may set date for plate
placement.
He is in an outpatient therapy program that seems to be improving
his cognative function.
Amazon has many books on Traumatic Brain Injury or Stroke that
may help clairify what Joe is going through and help one communicate.
I believe he is keeping his phone turned off as people just
don't understand, so he feels there is nothing to talk about.
The District Attorney has decided not to prosecute, as it would
be difficult to prove "beyond a reasonable doubt"
as there are no strong witnesses. We are working on a Civil
Case. Do not concern Joe with this matter.
Joe is greiving the death of a dear friend and inspiration,
so he may be a bit overloaded and confused for some time.
